Fishing Contest set for February 12

The annual German Jefferson Sportsmen’s Club Fishing Contest has been set for Sunday, February 12 on West Lake Jefferson.  This is the major fund raiser for the Sportsmen’s Club.  Proceeds from the sale of contest tickets will help their future projects.

(Editor’s note:  The Sportsmen Club and the

Lake Associationare not affiliated in any way.  There has been cooperation on some projects, but the membership, budgets and projects are all separate.)

Below are past and current projects of the Sportsmen’s Club:

  • Maintenance of aeration system on Scotch Lake
  • Winter food plots, feeders, nesting area and tree planting for pheasants
  • Sponsor Take a Kid Fishing, Gun and Snowmobile training
  • Maintaining Northern Pike rearing ponds for local lakes
  • Handicapped fishing access and a pier at West Jefferson Lake
  • Provide public hunting land by purchasing parcels on non-producing farmland and using it for wildlife cover
  • Contribution to storm warning sirens
  • Lighting at public accesses on area lakes

This year the main project will be purchasing and installing a new floating dock on

German Lake!
